Nguyen Xuan Luc

(b. 1983, Ha Tay)

biography

Nguyen Xuan Luc was born in 1983 in Ha Tay, northern Vietnam. Graduating from Hanoi University of Industrial Arts in 2007, he specialized in lacquer and participated in many exhibitions in Vietnam. In a traditional material, lacquer, the artist expresses through very contemporary representations - sometimes abstract geometric forms, and sometimes in a style close to photorealism - his questioning of the individual's relationship to life, to space-time, and society. Here, he compares the impermanence of man to that of particles floating in space. Nguyen Xuan Luc has participated in various local and international exhibitions, such as ASEAN Art Exhibition at Vietnam Fine Arts Museum (Vietnam, 2012), Hanoi Artists Group Exhibition at Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum (Vietnam, 2013), Vietnamese Lacquer Paintings Exhibition (Russia, 2014), IN/OUT Art Exhibition organized by the Hanoi’s Young Artist Club (Vietnam, 2016), Viridity Peak Exhibition (Taiwan, 2018), Art In The Forest at Flamingo Dai Lai Art Space (Vietnam, 2018), The Timeless Chant exhibition (Taiwan, 2019), The Particles Solo Exhibition at Jeng Guan gallery (Taiwan, 2019), Lacquer & Paper Painting exhibition at Vietnam Fine Arts Museum (Vietnam, 2020), and Dreaming of a Foreign Land at Mo Art Space (Vietnam, 2021).
